Здесь могла бы быть история ещё одного сахалинского целлюлозно-бумажного комбината, построенного японцами в 1920-х годах и заброшенного после развала СССР в начале 1990-х, — но гораздо интереснее то, как в городе Макарове избавлялись от его останков. Не до конца понятно, откуда получилось добыть такой впечатляющий объем грунта вперемешку со строительным мусором, но завод смогли закопать. Почти целиком! Вместо того, чтобы сносить огромные пустующие цеха — взорвать или срыть бульдозерами, — их засыпали! Где-то по уровень крыши, где-то полностью, что только трубы остались торчать. И кому он мешал?.. Возможно, что когда-нибудь, спустя века, про завод вспомнят — выкопают — и потомки нынешних поколений смогут кайфануть от древней архитектуры подобно тому, как мы сейчас — от древнегреческих руин или чего-то подобного. Может быть, там даже сохранятся некие артефакты, как останки погибшей цивилизации…

It’s not easy to imagine where to get such an impressive amount of soil mixed with construction garbage, but the plant was buried. Almost totally! Instead of demolishing huge empty shops — to blow up or bulldoze — they were filled up! Somewhere up to the level of the roof, somewhere completely, that only pipes left to stick out. And who was he interfering with? It is possible that someday, centuries later, the factory will be remembered — dug out — and the descendants of current generations will be able to enjoy the ancient architecture like we now enjoy ancient Greek ruins or something like that. Maybe, they will even preserve some artifacts, like the remains of the dead civilization…
